Canele

Was having a relaxing afternoon yesterday @ Canele, Paragon. I had the Club Honey Baked Ham Sandwiches, Rose Bud Tea and two cakes (which I can’t remember their name). The sandwiches is pretty good, my rose bud tea is very fragrant and I even asked for a refill of water without any charges. However, I find the cakes so-so only. I think they have another outlet in Hong Kong, which my friend told me that the cakes in Hong Kong are much better than the one here.

shuanen.jpg

but she don’t know how to talk yet … she can sit on her own … for a while as she is in her seven months now. hopefully she will be able to utter some words in the next couple of weeks. We have been talking to her, teaching her the ABCs and played nursery songs every weekend.

The Week In Brief

It’s been a hectic week.

1) Major happenings at work. Two major cases resulting in serious consequences. I have to help clear two office rooms.

2) Payroll rush. Making sure everyone in the company gets their pay on-the-dot.

3) Sad news of a friend’s dad passing.

4) Because of work, I couldn’t make it to the wake. I’m sorry.

5) Thanks to my travelling companion, the hotel, airport transfer and spa session has been confirmed and booked. Thanks.

6) Looking forward to my leave next friday. First annual leave I took since Feb 2007. 1 day only but I’m glad. I need the break and peace. Maybe catch the Harry Potter movie, while everyone reading the lastest Harry Potter book. :)

7) Received the dreaded income tax statement. Time to contribute to the nation building fund.

Korean Movie – 200 Pounds Beauty

200pounds.jpg

Just watched this korean movie on dvd this afternoon. The story is quite similar to Andy Lau’s and Sammi Cheng’s Love on A Diet. It is about a fat & ugly gal called Hanna who is a lip sync singer for a famous korean pop singer. She is often being teased atd and look down by other people. She 暗恋 the producer for the longest time and wishes to be with him. Desperate to change her life, she decided to go for a full-body plastic surgery that changes her entire appearance. She’s such a knock out after the surgery. When she comes back from hospital, no one recognizes her. She even managed to become a pop singer too under the disguise of a new name, Jenny, in the same record company that she used to lip sync at. However, she realizes that changing her appearances doesn’t solve all her problems and that she is living a lie. And she told the truth to all her fans and people around her and become a real star on her own.

Though I felt that the storyline is old, but the movie is entertaining on a lazy sunday afternoon.

First Kiss

It was an overdue meet-up with a couple of friends from my banking days. We have not met, like, almost one year. How time flies ….. Sushi in a little cozy corner, little chatting with updates of our life & careers, after dinner drinks at New Asia Bar.

It was almost 3 years on since I last step-in to New Asia Bar. The last visit was with the BF when we were first started dating. Upon entering the bar, memories of us having drinks there came back to me. I remembered the little corner near the window, where we sat, the red wine we had on our hand ……. and we have our first kiss right there, surrounded by many people. Sms the BF and told him all these, and I think he is happy that I remembered all these. :)

So Sad

Guess anyone who read the Straits Times or watch the news these few days will know that a lady gave birth to a pair of twins but died in hospital because of excessive bleeding. Quoted from CNA:

The management staff of Raffles Hospital held a meeting on Thursday morning with family members of the woman who bled to death after giving birth to a pair of twins. But the husband of the late Madam Swee Lay Kuan went away with more questions than answers. Mr Jason Low was not satisfied with the hospital’s response.

He said that the hospital had caused unnecessary anxiety, when its staff told him to find blood donors for his wife, who needed a massive transfusion.

Said Mr Low, “When I saw the Blood Bank statement and their reply, I realised all that was totally uncalled for. The problem is the hospital is not well informed. And they gave me wrong information.”

Mr Low was also told by the doctors that his wife’s placenta was ’stuck to her womb’.

He is demanding an answer to why the hospital’s earlier scans had not detected this.

Raffles Hospital has told Mr Low that it is conducting an internal inquiry into his wife’s death.

Besides the twins, Mr Low has two other daughters, aged 17 and 11.

For now, the 42-year-old can only take comfort in the fact that his twins, who were born prematurely, are doing well at the Intensive Care Unit at the Singapore General Hospital.

I’m loss for words. Is this what Singapore hospitals capable of??

Fallen Sick

Finally, after three months under the strong air-con, plus the crazy weather these past weeks, my body finally surrender and came down with a very bad flu & cough …….. sigh ….. taking some self medication, Febs Cold Relief Tablets, bought at Guardian just now. If still not well two days later, time to visit the doctor …..

Booked!

Booking the tickets online with the voucher is a pain in the ass. Also, kena felt cheated by the misleading information from HSBC. Sigh! Nonetheless, the tickets still come out cheaper than the usual costs. So, I will be off to Ho Chi Minh from 7 – 11 August. Time to do some research! Yippee!

Gooddies
